OK, lets cut to the chase and get right to the topic. YOU are looking for copyright free stock images for your website or your blog or maybe your presentation or something else or you wouldn’t be here. Sure you can buy them from iStockPhoto, Shutterstock or some other site for a few bucks, but there are tons of sites out that that offer copyright-free stock images for …well… FREE.

Here are some of my favorites

  1. pixabayPixabay is a repository for stunning public domain pictures and it offers over 250,000 free photos, vectors and art illustrations. You can use any Pixabay image without attribution in digital and printed form, even for commercial applications. Free signup allows you to bypass captcha (so signup unless you want to spend your time filling in random letters and numbers to download each image)
  2. photopinPhotoPin allows you to search millions of Creative Commons photos from Flickr and add them to your blog posts. If you search for an image make sure you scroll past the first few rows of sponsored images and click on the images from PhotoPin. HTML for attribution is available once you click on the image.
  3. unsplashYou can get some great images from Unsplash. Subscribe and they will send you 10 new high resolution images in your inbox every 10 days or you can look at their archives and take a look at all the images they have to offer. They dont have thousands of images but the ones they do have are pretty decent and not to mention they are all high resolution and copyright free.
  4. deathtothestockphotoDeath to the Stock Photo offers free images to you inbox every month. They give you a free image pack right away when you signup. They also have a paid premium option of $10/month which gets you extra pack of images, access to their entire library of images including the past image packs.
  5. morguefileMorgueFile is a free photo archive which has a collection of about 325K images.
  6. openclipartIf you are looking for ClipArts, vector image or icons then head over to Openclipart. All cliparts can be used for unlimited commercial use and all clipart are released into the public domain. Each artist at Openclipart releases all rights to the images they share at Openclipart.
